Crazy Sexy Cleansing Day 1

So day one was a success. I may have made a few not-so-Crazy-Sexy slip ups due to lack of preparation. But they were still healthful choices none the less.

I woke up between 5:15 and 5:30 and got straight to the juicer. This green juice is called “Immune Me” and contains green apples, cucumbers, lemon, ginger, and romaine leaves. Romaine leaves are greens, but not quite as bitter as say, kale.

Afterwards, I went to the gym for a 6 am yoga class followed by a 35 minute run/fast walk on the treadmill (while listening to Our Hen House podcast).

When we got back to the apartment, I snacked on a cara cara orange (not entirely sure if this counts as Crazy Sexy since it’s not as low on the glycemic index as berries, apples, and pears) and a spoonful of peanut butter.

This didn’t entirely sate me so I ate the last larabar in the cupboard. Larabars are not Crazy Sexy because of the dried fruit, but I knew I wouldn’t make it until lunch (especially with work before hand). It was at this moment that it became abundantly clear that I needed more snack-age lying around.

For lunch, I ate leftover miso soup from late last week (but still from Crazy Sexy Diet). I didn't get a picture of this because I ate it at school.

Around 3 or 4 I was feeling hungry enough that if I hadn’t JUST gone shopping for the final stuff I’d need for this week (aka: snacks!) I’d probably have given up right then and eaten something not Crazy Sexy.

So I brought baby carrots and Alive & Radiant Foods’ Cheezy Chipotle kale chips too. This was plenty to keep me going through four hours of calling and congratulating admitted students.

When I got home, I could smell something AMAZING as soon as I walked through the door. Ben was making Coconut and Red Lentil Soup from Crazy Sexy Kitchen. This stuff is magical! Seriously, it just might be one of my favorite soups. It’s creamy and filling from the legumes and there is SO. MUCH. FLAVOR. It’s not particularly coconut-y; the canned low-fat coconut milk just gives it a smooth richness. The main spices and flavors going on are onion, ginger, cayenne, and black pepper. It’s super simple and super delicious.

To accompany the soup, Ben also made a massaged kale salad (Ari’s Special K) featured in The Vegan’s Daily Companion. Until this salad, I wasn’t the biggest fan of kale salads, but with avocado and onion and apple cider vinegar, there is enough going on to tame the greens. It’s delicious!

We ended up going back for seconds of soup and each ate a quarter of the cara cara orange that was left from juicing it over the salad.

That was our first day cleansing. So far so good. I’m feeling optimistic.
