So it’s now day 7 of the Crazy
Sexy Cleanse. Truth be told, I sometimes wonder if I’m unintentionally
cheating.
Yesterday, for example, I wanted
nothing more than to have a bowl of millet porridge topped with mangos and
banana. After attempting the near impossible (doing a full grocery trip while
being hangry and feeling my blood sugar plummet towards the end), we FINALLY
got some millet. We tried the local natural food store and TWO Hannfords. After
the second Hannaford, we went back to the natural food store (where the millet
bulk bin was empty) to ask if they had some in the back. Ben did
that. I stayed in the car for thee safety of the other shoppers. He came out
with a small bar of dark chocolate and a big bag of millet.
Dark chocolate is acceptable and
so is millet, but my concern is that mango and banana are not as low on the
glycemic scale as berries and apples. However, this millet porridge that comes
from Crazy Sexy Kitchen is DIVINE. It absolutely hit the spot. You know that
feeling of eating exactly what you were craving?
For dinner, we had some homemade marinara sauce over quinoa and amaranth pasta with a salad of kale, carrot, and romaine lettuce. Truth be told, I’m not very creative with salads, even when I have a plethora of recipes to choose from. Anyways, I’m not sure if the pasta was Crazy Sexy either. Kris Carr talks a lot about using veggies as pasta.

Finally, for breakfast today and
later on this week, we had a smoothie with orange juice (not freshly squeezed),
frozen pineapple, spinach, basil, and ice. Even though this came from Crazy
Sexy Juices and Succulent smoothies, I’m not sure if it’s cleanse appropriate
or not.
Needless to say, ALL of these
foods were delicious.
Ben put it in to perspective. He
said that we’re eating a lot healthier than if we weren’t trying to cleanse.
This is true. Very true. Maybe I’m being a perfectionist (likely) or maybe I am
cheating a little (also likely), but I’m eating cleaner foods than the kind I’m
dreaming about.
It’s a form of self-inflicted
torture reading through cookbooks like Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World and
Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar while trying to cleanse. I’m already
planning what I want to cook and bake after this thing is over. Does that
defeat the purpose?
Tonight, however, I had a dessert thas was both Crazy Sexy and decadent. Avocado pudding (aka: chocomole) from Crazy Sexy Diet. It was creamy and rich. The ingredients were avocado, dates, vanilla, and water. I added a little agave because the dates weren't as smooth as I'd hoped (I'm going to soak the dates next time). I'd definitely make this pudding again.
Any ways, I do notice that my skin
is clearing up on cleaner food. I forgot to weigh myself last Monday at the
gym, but I did borrow my friend Lisa’s measuring tape (thank you, Lisa!) so I will measure myself again, at the end of this whole thing. As far as how I feel, maybe better. I’m honestly not entirely sure. I certainly don't feel worse.
At the very least, I don’t have that feeling hanging over me that I should be
eating healthier.

Have any of you tried the Crazy Sexy Diet? What did you think?
Everything looks healthy and delicious. Ben is right. You are making great choices, even if they don't follow the CSD cleanse exactly (which I wouldn't know because I haven't read it). Regardless, your skin clearing up is a great reward. The millet porridge does sound divine :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nikki! I didn't follow the millet porridge exactly, but what I put in it was almond milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and agave and simmered it on low heat (after bringing it to a bowl)for about 35 minutes, adding almond milk as necessary.
