My day started out like most days. My alarm was set for 6:50, but around 6:47, I reset it for 7:30, but ended up getting out of bed at 7:08. I ate breakfast, pumpkin flax cereal with blueberries and unsweetened almond milk, and surfed the internets for a little while before trying to squeeze in some last minute homework (Spanish).
Around 8:45, Mya and I somewhat hurriedly put the recycling out before heading to school. She had an interview (she got the job!) and I had Spanish class. It passed slowly, but my writing class at 12:30 was cancelled.
I met up with my good friend Lisa and enjoyed a leisurely lunch in the Union with her. Time spent with Lisa is almost always therapeutic. We talk about just about everything. For lunch I had left over pot pie, though it doesn’t look like pot pie anymore, and two apples. Apples were on sale this week. Lunch was just enough to fill me up, but not stuff me. And it was still super delicious. Buttery and flakey and all gravy-like.
I walked with Lisa to the building her class is in before walking to my car. My car hesitated a little before turning on and I knew the problem was only going to get bigger.
But, I needed to get to Bangor for a few items. I stopped at the apartment to get Mya so she could come with me. As we were driving we noticed that my gauges weren’t working…the needle said my tank was empty and I’d filled it last night, and that I was driving 0 miles per hour, but I was moving so…..
Long story short, my car died while I was driving and I had to pull over into a parking lot. Mya’s friend brought us back to the apartment so I could call a local auto repair shop and drive back in Mya's car to get it towed. Ugggh…
After signing some papers and going over the problems with the auto people (I think, and they seem to agree that it’s the alternator), Mya and I stopped at Bed, Bath, and Beyond to grab a springform pan for dinner (I plan to post that tomorrow night). Then we stopped at Starbucks and with a gift card I’ve had for a while, I bought us iced beverages. She had an iced soy café mocha. I had an iced chocolate chai soy latte. It was really refreshing, especially on this muggy, rainy day.
Mya stopped at Bull Moose, a local movie and music store to get a few used DVDs and finally, we stopped at the Natural Living Center, my local natural food store, to pick up some items for rice crispy treats (inspired by Veg*n Amuse Bouche).
When we got back, I enjoyed these Cleo’s peanut butter cups before goofing around and taking these pictures of Manny and Sullie.
Finally, I made dinner and dessert. Not telling or showing what dinner was. While we ate, we watched Freedom Writers. Such a good movie. Why did it take me this long to watch it?
And now here I am, worried about my car and school and normal stuff. Good night, everyone. Can’t wait to post tonight’s dinner for you tomorrow because it was GOOOOOOOOD. Mya is not even a vegetarian and she loved it. Let me just hint that it had Daiya…and tempeh bacon.
