Happy Last-Day-of-Vegan-Mofo, everybody. Looking back, I definitely didn’t end up blogging as much as I’d hoped. September has been a strange month for me. Every new semester is an adjustment, and this one started off with my relationship becoming long distance…again. Ughh. And, of course, work and school work keep a girl good and tired.
Today, I wanna walk you through my day and share with you my healthy and not so healthy eats. Ready?
After waking up at 7:24, nearly half an hour after I'd meant to, I briefly contemplated skipping the gym. Just like the whole month has been, getting to the gym has been a bit of a struggle. Remembering that I’m training for a 5k got me out of bed and quickly into workout gear. It’s mornings like these that remind me why I make the extra effort to pack up my stuff at night.
I whipped up a smoothie: pineapple, mango, banana, orange, and water. If I hadn’t been in a rush, I would’ve added some flax seed for good measure…and I would’ve actually gotten a picture. As I slurped down my smoothie, I got my last minute stuff together: my headphones, my shoes, my lunch, that kind of stuff. Then I rushed out the door.
At the gym I ran for about 35 minutes, well I alternated running and walking while watching TV on the treadmill. I’ve still got a little ways to go before actually running in the Thanksgiving 5k.
After changing in the locker room and moving my car to the campus’ main parking lot, I popped a few pizza flavored flax snax from Go Raw. Though I’d find myself hungry by lunch, these crackers definitely kept me going with their sprouted seeds and pizza seasonings.
|I had more than these 4!|
Work from 9:30 to 12 included touring a mom, her daughter, and her daughter’s friends around campus, showing them the highlights of UMaine and answering their questions.
By the time I made it to the student union, I was famished and ready for my salad and grapes. Let me just say, the salad was good, but I’m not so good at making meal salads. I can make a great side salad, but I can’t seem to get it together when it comes to adding beans, grains, and seeds to my salad. To be honest, I really hate chasing beans around the bowl with a fork.

So while the salad was super filling (look at it, it was a ton of food), I just don’t think I’m that kind of vegan…yet. Never say never, right?
After my Native American literature class at 1:10, some homework reading at 2, and a brief club meeting 3, I found myself with a headache. I’ve definitely been drinking plenty of water, so I grabbed a Berries GoMega Odwalla and an energy bar that was more like a candy bar. And I read some more.
Work started at 4 and ended a little after 6, though the shift is supposed to go until 8. I stopped by Hannaford on my way home to grab some wraps (I plan on turning my salads into wraps for lunch) along with some chocolate chips and maple syrups. I’m pretty sure pancakes are in my future.
Before diving into my homework, I stuffed a cookie down my throat, along with an enchilada and a square of dark orange chocolate.
|I'll blog about this later on.|
Since then, I’ve moved from my bed to my dining room table/desk and back again, reading Animal Camp (it makes me cry!), editing some creative writing pieces for class, and typing up this blog post.
Now it’s about 10:45 and I still have to prepare tomorrow’s lunch, pack tomorrow’s bags, read Chapter 5 of a textbook, and shower. So I think I’m gonna go. Talk to you later. Bye!
